1) How to establish a match?

Navigate to the 'My League' section within the League Of Tennis app and choose the league you've become a part of.

You'll find a roster of players, and you have the option to send a message to a specific person to invite them for the match. There are no restrictions on the number of matches you can participate in. Once you achieve three victories, you'll become eligible for the playoffs.

2) Playing Formats - Updated 10/01/2023

2a) 2 out of 3 sets

League Of Tennis employs a format in which matches are decided by the superior performance in two out of three 6-game professional sets. In the event of a set reaching a 6-6 tie, a first-to-7-point tiebreaker is employed to establish the victor of that particular set. This tiebreaker format is consistently applied across all three sets.

2b) 2 sets with 3rd set tie breaker

In the event of a tied match with one set each, and if the match duration becomes excessive, the players have the option to mutually decide to conclude the match by playing a 10-point super tiebreaker.

3) Playoffs

Every season culminates in a playoff phase, where players who have achieved a minimum of three wins against at least two different opponents earn a spot in a single-elimination tournament.
If there aren't sufficient players with three victories, a playoff will take place among the top four players.

4) Tennis Balls

Every player must bring a fresh can of tennis balls to each match. The victorious player is entitled to claim the unopened can as their prize, while the opposing player may take possession of the used balls. If a breach of this rule occurs, players are required to report it to us. Initial non-compliance will result in a warning, and for a second offense, a playing strike will be recorded against the player as part of the league's three-strike policy.

5) Honor System

Line calls should be promptly made by the team in possession of the ball; otherwise, the ball will be assumed to be in play. Typically, a ball should only be declared 'out' if there is absolute certainty, with a threshold of 100% certainty. In situations where both players have conflicting opinions about a call, the recommended course of action is to replay the point.

6) Changing court ends

Players are required to switch court ends once an uneven number of games have been completed.

7) Choosing court location

The league encourages players to select a mutually convenient location for their matches. We provide a comprehensive list of tennis courts, complete with ratings submitted by players, to assist in deciding where to play. It's advisable to consider venues with a high volume of matches played, as it can be a reliable indicator of a suitable meeting place.
